Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has clarified the meaning behind his statement that “some dogs bark.”

Speaking on Sunday at St. Cyprian Anglican Church in Port Harcourt during a church service to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Fubara said his silence and calm demeanor stem from confidence in what he possesses.

“I said something that dogs bark when they don’t understand. Now, see, I think a lot of you don’t understand, and that’s the reason I don’t shout, I don’t complain. I know what I have,” the governor explained.

He added that his source of strength comes from his faith in God. “I know that I have what is supreme, and that is God. So, I want everyone to relax. What is important is peace for this dear state, and we’ll get it by the special name of God,” he said.

The remarks come on a day when FCT Minister Nyesom Wike responded to calls for President Bola Tinubu to sack him, noting that the President can only do so if he no longer has anything to offer him.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State House of Assembly yesterday raised alarm over alleged “secret plots” to secure court orders that could unlawfully restrain the legislature from executing its constitutional duties.

Governor Fubara, however, called for calm and assured residents that the situation in the state would remain stable.
