Former Secretary to the State Government of Rivers State, Tammy Danagogo, has responded to a police invitation regarding an alleged plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Danagogo informed the Nigeria Police Force that he would be out of town and therefore unable to honour the invitation scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026.

The Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Force Intelligence Department in Abuja had summoned Danagogo following a leaked telephone conversation with a Port Harcourt-based pastor, Tambari Joseph Gbeneol. The recording allegedly indicated a plan to import assassins from Israel to target Wike.

While the invitation was meant for questioning and to allow Danagogo to clear his name, the former SSG, through his legal team, Danagogo, Oputa & Associates, requested that the meeting be rescheduled.

The request was signed by Sir I. O. Nwodoh, Esq., on behalf of the firm, and addressed to the Commissioner of Police, IRT, Guzape District, FCT.

The notice reads in part:

“The attention of our principal, Dr. T. W. Danagogo, has been drawn to your letter under reference after service on us yesterday at about 18:00 hours. Upon reaching our principal, we regret to inform you that he is out of town and may not be available at the slated Thursday, 15th January 2026 appointment. Consequently, we request your kind indulgence to have the appointment rescheduled for Monday, 26th January 2026, for the interview.”
