The Federal Government has lauded the Super Eagles for their determination and impressive performance at the Africa Cup of Nations, despite their narrow defeat that ended Nigeria’s campaign.

Nigeria exited the 2025 AFCON on Wednesday following a tense penalty shootout loss to Morocco’s Atlas Lions, which secured the North African side’s place in the final.

In a statement on Thursday, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris praised the Super Eagles, saying their performance showcased discipline, unity, and resilience qualities that strongly reflect the Nigerian spirit.

He added that the team’s determination throughout the tournament continues to be a source of pride for the nation, regardless of the result.

“Even in defeat, you demonstrated character, teamwork, and resilience, qualities that resonate deeply with the nation you represent.

“You reminded us that wearing the green and white symbolizes courage, unity, and perseverance. Hold your heads high, learn from this experience, stay united, and come back stronger.

“Nigeria remains proud of you and thankful for the joy and hope you brought during this competition. Well done, Super Eagles. The nation stands with you, always,” the statement read in part.
