The Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, has urged the Kano State Government to ensure that anyone found guilty of killing innocent persons faces the death penalty.
The monarch made the call on Monday, January 19, 2026, while speaking with journalists in reaction to the gruesome murder of Fatima Abubakar and her six children in the Chiranci Dorayi area of Kumbotso Local Government Area over the weekend.
Emir Sanusi warned that showing leniency to perpetrators of such crimes would only fuel further violence, stressing that justice must be decisive to deter future killings.
“If a person kills and is allowed to go free, then the killing of innocent people will never stop,” he said.
