President Bola Tinubu has confirmed that Nigeria is receiving international support to combat terrorism and banditry nationwide.

He disclosed this in his 2026 Easter message released on Good Friday, noting that despite the valiant efforts of Nigerian troops, security challenges remain.

Tinubu stated, “My administration continues to allocate resources and build foreign partnerships to deliver decisive actions against the perpetrators of terror and banditry.

“We have also sought and are receiving assistance from abroad.”

He, however, did not name the countries involved or specify the nature of the support.

Tinubu acknowledged that security challenges persist despite efforts by the armed forces, but expressed confidence that progress was being made.

The President’s comments come amid renewed attacks in parts of the country, including the recent killings in Plateau State.

He said security chiefs had assured him of improvements in ongoing operations.

Tinubu had earlier indicated that Nigeria was engaging foreign partners for military support, including discussions with Emmanuel Macron on equipment and training.

He also urged Nigerians to support security agencies and reject actions that threaten national peace.

“No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” the President said.

On the economy, Tinubu defended his administration’s reforms, describing them as necessary despite current hardships.

He added that as the country approaches the 2027 elections, political actors must act responsibly and adhere to the Electoral Act.
