KEBBI GOVERNOR APPOINTS JAFAR JEGA AS AMIRUL HAJJ FOR 2026 PILGRIMAGE

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has appointed former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Alhaji Jafar Jega, as Amirul Hajj for the 2026 pilgrimage.
The appointment was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Tafida, and made available to journalists.
According to the statement, Jega will lead a 19-member government delegation responsible for coordinating and supervising all Hajj-related activities for Kebbi State.
The committee is tasked with ensuring smooth planning and execution of the pilgrimage, as well as protecting the welfare of intending pilgrims and maintaining collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
It added that the delegation will coordinate Hajj operations effectively and work closely with relevant agencies to ensure the welfare of Kebbi pilgrims throughout the exercise.

The committee will also oversee compliance with agreements involving the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and airline operators, in addition to monitoring overall operations and advising the government on improvements for future exercises.
Members of the delegation include former Deputy Senate Leader, Sen. Bala Ibn Na’Allah; Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia; Abubakar Kana; Babale Yauri; Garba Bena; Sulaiman Fana; and Aliyu Muhammad, the Magajin Rafin Gwandu.
Others are Dr. Haliru Jikan-Daudu; Zayyanu Rasheed; Halima Bande; Halima Kamba; Mustapha Ka’oje; Muhammad Bawa, the Sarkin Kabin Jega; Umar Saraki; Kadi Mukhtar; Justice Nuraddeen Muhammad; and Sahabi Gemu, who will serve as secretary.
Governor Idris said the selection reflects his administration’s commitment to ensuring a well-organised Hajj operation by involving experienced officials, religious leaders, and key stakeholders across the state.
