2027: DAVIDO RULES OUT APC SUPPORT, SAYS HE HAS NO PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has ruled out supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election, despite his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, declaring support for President Bola Tinubu.
The Grammy-nominated singer made this known during a recent interview with News Central TV, in a video circulating online following the Osun State governorship election and the announcement of the results.
Davido explained that his uncle’s decision to support Tinubu did not mean he was obligated to adopt the same political position, stressing that everyone should be free to make their own political choices.
Reflecting on his involvement in previous political campaigns, the singer recalled supporting former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar when they were members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also noted that he participated in political campaigns during the period when the APC was formed through a merger, adding that his late uncle was associated with the party.
Speaking about his political involvement in Osun State, Davido said he believed he had fulfilled his responsibility to the people and his family.
“I defeated 17 governors with all their power, with all their immunity, escort commanders, DSS, with all their billions. I defeated them with just a phone,” he said.
The singer added that he did not want anyone to dictate his choice of presidential candidate, noting that his uncle might have personal reasons for endorsing Tinubu in the interest of the state.
According to Davido, Governor Adeleke declared his support for the President shortly after winning the governorship election, but he personally had no immediate plans to endorse any presidential candidate.
“My uncle, immediately he won, came out to declare his support for President Tinubu. But as for me, I am not prepared to support anybody,” he stated.
Davido further explained that although he had supported political candidates in previous elections, he had yet to settle on a preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential race.
“But right now, I don’t have a presidential candidate. It might change, sha. It’s not going to be APC, but everybody should have their own,” the singer added.
