Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has pledged to secure at least 50 per cent of the state’s votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Soludo made the promise during the flag-off of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) 2027 campaign at Ekwueme Square in Awka.

The governor announced that APGA would not field a presidential candidate in the 2027 election and would instead adopt Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Today, we adopt the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as our candidate,” he declared.

He explained that the decision was based on what he described as the President’s love and concern for the Igbo people, particularly Anambra State.

Soludo recalled that Tinubu appointed several indigenes of Anambra to strategic positions in Lagos State during his tenure as governor.

He also noted that APGA had supported presidential candidates of the ruling party in previous elections, describing the decision to back Tinubu in 2027 as a continuation of the party’s established political arrangement.

The governor lamented that Tinubu received fewer than 5,000 votes in Anambra during the 2023 presidential election, despite his administration’s efforts to address some of the challenges facing the state and the South-East region.

He, therefore, urged residents of Anambra to support the President in the forthcoming election, arguing that doing so would strengthen the state’s position in engaging with the Federal Government and negotiating for regional development.

“We need to vote for him in order to sit with the government at the centre and negotiate for the development of the South-East and Anambra State,” Soludo said.
