GARETH SOUTHGATE TO CONTINUE AS ENGLAND COACH UNTIL 2024
The England Football Association has announced that Gareth Southgate will continue as manager untill the 2024 European Championships.
Following England’s World Cup quarterfinal defeat to France, Southgate first told FA officials he wanted some time to think about his future as manager. However, Southgate later changed his mind and decided to carry on.
Southgate will now remain in charge for England for what will ge his fourth major tournament at the helm.
FA CEA statement from FA CEO Mark Bullingham read: “We are delighted to confirm that Gareth Southgate is continuing as England manager, and will lead our Euro 2024 campaign. Gareth and (assistant) Steve Holland have always had our full support, and our planning for the Euros starts now.”
Prior to reaching the last eight in Qatar, Southgate guided England to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals in Russia and the European Championship final.
