LAGOS FIRST LADY REITERATES COMMITMENT TO WELFARE, WELL-BEING OF STUDENTS AS SHE HANDS OVER SICK BAY TO DOLPHIN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the first lady of Lagos State, presented a modern sick bay to Dolphin Junior High School in the Simpson neighborhood of Lagos Island on Monday.
She said the facility symbolizes the state government’s dedication to the welfare and well-being of children in the state.
Recall that on December 6, 2021, the First Lady visited the school as part of the worldwide 16-day campaign against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) to educate the students about the dangers of sexual assault and harassment in the classroom. During the advocacy visit, the First Lady had the chance to donate some instructional supplies, such as laptops, cooking gas, and SGBV resources, to the school.
The school administration had requested the First Lady’s assistance in facilitating a sick bay as part of the events in order to care for students’ health within the educational setting, particularly to give basic life support treatment in the event of injuries and other urgent medical needs.
The First Lady expressed her excitement about the sick bay becoming a reality and about the ability of the facility’s medical staff to act quickly in the event of a medical crisis while speaking at the handover.
“I am excited that we have delivered this project through a partnership between the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and other stakeholders.
“The welfare and well-being of our students are paramount to the administration of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and no stone will be left untouched to ensure that we replicate the modern sick bay in all our public schools,” the First Lady said.
In his remarks, the Principal of the school, Mr. Taiwo Akinlabi expressed profound appreciation to the First Lady, saying the facility will be properly utilized for the intended purpose.
He said the students were indeed appreciative of the kind gesture of the First Lady, saying the sick bay would go a long way in helping to safeguard the health of students.
