KANU’S LAWYER CALLS FOR JUSTICE AS SUPREME COURT HEARS APPEAL ON DETENTION
As the Supreme Court reviews the appeal of Nnamdi Kanu’s imprisonment, the leading attorney for the Indigenous People of Biafra, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has pushed for justice for the group’s imprisoned leader.
On Thursday morning, the attorney used his verified Twitter account to convey the Igbo community’s unwavering desire for Kanu’s release.
He wrote on Twitter, “The Supreme Court of Nigeria will hear an appeal about the ongoing illegal detention of our tireless client, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, this morning.”
“We are very firm in our belief that the Almighty Chukwu Okike Abiama will take absolute control of today’s proceedings. His Grace will prevail in judgement over today’s outing at the Supreme Court.”
As previously reported, the Federal Government’s legal counsel appealed the decision of the Abuja-based Appeal Court ordering Kanu’s release.
Kanu’s legal counsel, led by attorneys Mike Ozekhome and Ifeanyi Ejiofor, filed an appeal before the Supreme Court in response to the DSS’s ongoing detention of him. They asked the high court to reject the FG’s appeal and affirm the Appeal Court’s decision.
