COURT DECLARES ONDO LOCAL COUNCIL DEVELOPMENT AREAS UNCONSTITUTIONAL
The 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) created by the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s administration have been declared illegal and unconstitutional by the Ondo State High Court in Akure.
Presiding Judge Justice A.O. Adebusuoye declared in his decision that the LCDAs’ existence was illegal because they were not formed in compliance with the law.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state successfully contested the committees’ legitimacy, leading to a court order that suspended the caretaker committees’ functioning. The committees were appointed by the late governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu.
