CRIME: SUSPECTED GUNMEN MURDER 54-YEAR-OLD ONDO BUSINESS WOMAN
The Ondo State Police Command announced on Wednesday that it has launched an inquiry into the murder of 54-year-old Olakunbi Adene, who was discovered dead in her home on Oda Road in Akure, the state capital.
It was said that the deceased’s motionless body was discovered on her bed in a pool of blood on Sunday, indicating that she had been murdered.
It was also discovered that the deceased had just hosted visitors to celebrate her 54th birthday.
The deceased, a mother of two, was in good health and showed no signs of illness prior to her tragic demise.
Speaking about the incident, the deceased’s husband, Dele Adene, claimed the news of his wife’s death came as a shocking shock.
However, he was disappointed that the police had not yet arrested anyone in connection with the incident.
Adene said, “I was told that my wife’s corpse was found on her bed in a pool of blood which showed she was hacked to death. I cannot believe that no arrests have been made up till the moment of talking to you. I feel suspects should have been arrested.
“Her phone should be tracked and I don’t know how dwellers in the building did not know such a thing happened in a house with four flats apartment.”
Similarly, the deceased’s daughter, Tejumade said it was one of her uncles that called, on the telephone, to inform her about what happened to her mother.
“I came back from the church and was trying her line, but it was switched off. I later received a call from my mother’s brother who called to inform me that my mother had been killed.”
The deceased’s remains have been put in Akure’s mortuary.
When contacted by phone, State Police Public Relations Officer SP Funmilayo Odunlami verified the event and stated that the command’s inquiry into the case had begun.
“I am aware of the incident, and an investigation is currently ongoing,” the PPRO stated.
