IBADAN EXPLOSION VICTIMS SEEK MAKINDE’S HELP NINE MONTHS LATER
Residents of Ibadan, Oyo State, who were impacted by the Bodija explosion on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, bemoaned on Wednesday that they had not yet been able to return home nine months after the event.
Since many of them have not yet returned to their homes, they urged the federal and state governments to do more to ease their suffering.
The explosion that rocked Ibadan’s Dejo Oyelese Street claimed five lives, injured 77 others to varied degrees, and damaged 58 homes.
Speaking to reporters at the Dilay Event Centre in Ibadan, the state capital, through their chairman, Yakubu Adedigba, on behalf of the Dejo Oyelese Vigilante Group, the victims bemoaned the indescribable agony and the necessity for governments to intervene on their behalf.
“As patriotic and loyal Nigerians, while we are grateful to the government of Oyo State for the past favour, we now passionately call on both the Federal and State Governments to do more to alleviate the sufferings of the residents of DOVG.
“It is an understatement to say that we are in distress as many of us have not been able to return to our homes and are still squatting with relatives and friends.
