PEP GUARDIOLA SIGNS TWO-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH MAN CITY
Manchester City have announced that Pep Guardiola has signed a two-year contract extension at the club.
The agreement brings to an end any doubt over his immediate future, with the Spaniard’s current deael due to expire at the end of this season.
“Manchester City means so much to me” Guardiola told Man City’s official website. “This is my ninth season here; we have experienced so many amazing times together. I have a really special feeling for this football club.
“That is why I am so happy to be staying for another two more seasons. I have said this many times before, but I have everything a manager could ever wish for, and I appreciate that so much.
“Hopefully now we can add more trophies to the ones we have already won. That will be my focus.”
The new deal could see Guardiola complete more than a decade in charge of the club, having arrived at Man City on 1 July 2016 when he replaced Manuel Pellegrini.
Guardiola has won 18 major trophies in his eight full seasons at City so far, including six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League. The latter was achieved in the club’s historic Treble-winning season of 2022/23.
He has a win rate of 73.7 per cent, which is higher than any other manager who has taken charge of more than 10 matches.
