MY CAR USED TO EMBARRASS MY WIFE – TIMI DAKOLO
Timi Dakolo, a well-known singer, has talked about how he met Busola.
The crooner of “Iyawo mi” disclosed that he met his wife at church and emphasised that although she wasn’t originally interested in a romantic relationship, he persisted.
When he picked her up with the branded Picanto he won from the first season of Idols West Africa in 2007, he recalled, she used to feel humiliated.
Speaking in a recent interview with Pulse, Dakolo said, “I met my wife in the church. I went to her and asked her to be my date for a ball. She gave me her number but wasn’t picking up the phone when I called. I kept going to the area hoping to see her again. Then I saw her one day and I asked her why was she not picking my calls and she said her phone got stolen.
“I sympathised with her and we became friends. I started developing feelings for her and she wanted to friend-zone me but I refused. I suffered to win her love. I was taking her to work to and fro. At one time, she used to be embarrassed whenever I picked her up with the branded Picanto I won from Nigerian Idols. I said, ‘Okay, don’t worry. I will shock you. Don’t look down on me.’ And I did.”
Since the singer and Busola’s 2012 marriage, they have welcomed three children together.
