TRAGIC: HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER KILLS TWO ON LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY
Two male pedestrians were killed in a hit-and-run incident near Kara Bus Stop on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on Thursday, Boxing Day.
The State Police Command stated on Friday that the accident happened around 5 p.m.
The victims were reportedly attempting to cross the expressway without proper caution when they were struck by unidentified vehicles.
The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that the victims were rushed to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, where they were confirmed dead on arrival.
She said, “The accident occurred at a point on the Isheri-Olofin corridor when the victims attempted to cross the expressway without a thorough view of the speeding vehicles.
“The vehicles rammed into the two victims and sped off. Their bodies have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy. Efforts are ongoing to identify the victims and apprehend the fleeing drivers.”
Reports has it that on the same day at around 4:14 p.m., a lone accident occurred along the Sapaade stretch of the expressway involving a Toyota Hiace bus with the number plate LAGOS LSR 585 YH, resulting in the deaths of two passengers and injuries to 16 others.
