Stakeholders, youths, students, and union representatives from Ife-North Local Government Area of Osun State have called for the zoning of the 2027 House of Representatives ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Accord Party to the area.

The demand was contained in a statement issued at a press conference by a coalition of Ife-North indigenes, both in Nigeria and the diaspora, who accused successive political arrangements of marginalising the area over the years.

Speaking at the event, Coalition Chairman Bolaji Olabode described the call as a matter of fairness and equitable representation within the Ife Federal Constituency.

“This is not a plea—it is a demand rooted in justice. Ife-North has waited long enough. Our relevance must go beyond elections into actual representation,” he said.

Another stakeholder, Emmanuel Oderinola, said there was a disconnect between the area’s contributions and its political benefits, noting that development had not reflected its input in elections and economic activities.

Representing students, Olalekan Johnson (popularly known as Idera) urged residents to unite in pursuit of political inclusion, stressing the need to translate population strength into representation.

A youth leader, Babalola Taiwo, described the situation as generational marginalisation, insisting that the issue was systemic exclusion rather than lack of capacity.

Coalition Secretary Akinnibi Miftahudeen said the demand was non-partisan and based solely on fairness, adding that no political system could remain credible while excluding a segment of its people.

Student leader Oluwafemi Oladele (Fresh) also expressed readiness for mobilisation, saying young people were prepared to take active steps to ensure their voices are heard.

The coalition urged APC and Accord Party to zone the 2027 House of Representatives ticket to Ife-North and called for the creation of a transparent zoning arrangement within the constituency. It also appealed to Ife Central, Ife East, and Ife South Local Government Areas to support what it described as a push for justice and balanced representation, warning that it would intensify advocacy until its demands are met.
