Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has officially approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the new Emir of Gusau.

Alhaji Abdulkadir succeeds his late father, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, becoming the 16th Emir of the Gusau Emirate Council. Dr. Bello passed away on July 25, 2025, after serving a decade on the throne.

The Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, announced the appointment in a statement on Tuesday, explaining that the decision followed the recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers and adhered to traditional customs and relevant laws.

Prior to his appointment, the new Emir held the traditional title of Bunun Gusau and is the eldest son of the late monarch.

Governor Lawal, in confirming the appointment, urged the new Emir to foster peace, unity, and development throughout the emirate.
