The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has commiserated with gospel artiste and media entrepreneur, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, following the fire incident that razed parts of his radio station, Fresh FM 105.9, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Bolaji Tunji, Adelabu described the incident as “sad and unfortunate,” noting that the station has been a beacon of quality broadcasting, entertainment, and public enlightenment in Oyo State and beyond.
“I extend my heartfelt sympathies to Dr. Ayefele, the management and staff of Fresh FM, as well as the good people of Oyo State over this unfortunate incident. This loss is deeply felt across Oyo State and the nation,” the minister said.
Adelabu stressed the importance of prioritising electrical safety, urging both public and private institutions to conduct regular inspections of power infrastructure and adhere to safety standards to prevent similar occurrences.
He also commended the swift response of the Oyo State Fire Service, first responders, and members of the surrounding community, who worked together to contain the blaze.
“Their dedication underscores the importance of robust emergency preparedness and the value of strong community cooperation,” Adelabu added.
The minister assured that the Federal Government stands in solidarity with Ayefele and the entire Fresh FM family during this difficult period.
