EDO POLICE DISTANCE CP AGBONIKA FROM VIRAL VIDEO, WARN AGAINST INCITEMENT

The Edo State Police Command has dissociated its Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, from comments made in a viral video circulating on social media.
In a statement issued by the Command, authorities clarified that remarks made in the video by one Emmanuel Eghogho were solely his personal views and do not reflect the position of the Commissioner of Police or the command.
“The comments made in the video are entirely those of the individual and do not in any way reflect the views, position, or disposition of the Commissioner of Police or the Edo State Police Command,” the statement said.
The command stressed that at no point did the police commissioner endorse or align himself with the statements made in the video, reaffirming that Agbonika remains a professional and non-partisan officer committed to the constitutional duties of the Nigeria Police Force.
It also reiterated its earlier call on political parties, supporters, and the general public to conduct their activities peacefully and within the bounds of the law.
While affirming citizens’ rights to pursue legitimate political interests, the police warned against acts capable of disrupting public order.
“Any act of violence, incitement, thuggery, or conduct capable of undermining public peace and security will not be tolerated under any guise,” the statement added.
The command further cautioned that offenders would be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law.
Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and safeguarding democratic processes, the Edo Police assured residents of continued efforts to ensure public safety across the state.
