The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has declared that he would work towards removing President Bola Tinubu from office in the 2027 general elections.
Baba-Ahmed made the statement during an appearance on *Sunday Politics*, a programme aired on Channels Television, where he criticised the administration of Tinubu and described it as harmful to Nigeria’s future.
According to him, the current administration has worsened the living conditions of Nigerians, increased insecurity and deepened public dissatisfaction across the country.
“I will work to get Tinubu out of power because I think he is bad news for Nigeria’s future,” Baba-Ahmed said during the interview.
The PRP chairman also expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress could be defeated in the 2027 elections if opposition political forces unite and put aside personal interests.
He stated that the major objective of the PRP ahead of the next general election is to ensure a change in leadership at the federal level.
“Our major agenda in the PRP is to unseat Tinubu. I’m not saying that only the PRP can get Tinubu out of power, but we have a major contribution to make, and we’re looking for every legitimate opportunity,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed further accused the Tinubu administration of mismanaging the country and making life difficult for ordinary Nigerians.
“He has messed up this country. He has made life miserable and more insecure. Nigerians are desperately unhappy. We know this for a fact. He knows it too, unless people around him are not telling him the truth about the state of the country,” he added.
The PRP chairman maintained that opposition leaders and political stakeholders must work together to build a strong coalition capable of challenging the APC in 2027.
According to him, opposition parties must set aside internal rivalries, reduce conflicts over political positions and focus on the broader goal of changing the current government.
“So, half the work has already been done. The rest of the work has to be done by us, the heavyweights. We have to find a way to pool our resources together, pool our energies together, and decide whether we can shun selfishness. We can reduce the quarrels over who gets what. The key issue is to have a change of government in 2027,” he said.
