The Nigerian Air Force has intensified its counter-terrorism campaign, destroying suspected insurgent hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns during a precision airstrike conducted on April 24, 2026.

The operation, carried out by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted Ali Sheriffti, a known terrorist enclave in the region.

According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the mission was executed at about 6:50 p.m. following credible intelligence on terrorist activities in the area.

NAF air assets reportedly conducted a surveillance sweep, during which several insurgents were observed moving along concealed routes. The targets were trailed to structures hidden under dense vegetation, indicating deliberate attempts to evade detection.

“Following positive identification, the NAF executed a precise strike, engaging the structures with onboard munitions,” the statement said.

The airstrike was said to have achieved its objective, with multiple terrorist structures destroyed, thereby disrupting their operations and limiting their mobility within the area.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the force’s commitment to sustained offensive operations against terrorist groups.

“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks with unwavering precision and relentless force, ensuring no enclave remains beyond our reach,” he said.

Aneke added that air operations would be intensified in the coming weeks as part of efforts to safeguard national security and protect civilian populations.

The latest strike underscores the military’s continued reliance on intelligence-driven, precision operations to degrade insurgent capabilities and deny them safe havens across conflict-prone areas.
