BY OWOLABI OLUWADARA
The former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hyacinth Dajoh, stated that he has “moved on” following his resignation and emphasized the need for tranquility in the state.
The media had previously reported that Dajoh, who held the position of Speaker from June 5, 2023, to August 24, 2025, resigned on Sunday amid rumors of an impeachment scheme by certain members of the House.
His resignation facilitated the appointment of Alfred Emberga, a previously suspended legislator, who was sworn in immediately as Speaker yesterday.

In a message of gratitude shared on his official Facebook page on Monday, Dajoh expressed his appreciation to Governor Hyacinth Alia, members of the House, his constituents, and his wife for their support throughout his term.
“It’s no longer news that I turned in a resignation letter as the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, yesterday being the 24th day of August, 2025. And I have moved on,” he wrote.
“I want to specially appreciate my constituents of Gboko West (Gbemacha) that first voted me as a member of the 10th Benue Assembly. I am eternally grateful to them.
“I appreciate my dear colleagues who voted me in as the first Speaker of the 10th Assembly and gave me the needed support to the very last day in office.”
He also conveyed his appreciation to Governor Alia for his unwavering support, stating, “My sincere gratitude is extended to the governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for his assistance from the commencement of my tenure as speaker to my departure. ”
Dajoh further recognized the efforts of Assembly personnel, aides, and his family, offering particular acknowledgment to his spouse.
“I would particularly like to express my appreciation to my wife, Kundumiyol Dajoh, who provided me with the needed affection and support during my time in office.
“She exemplifies the ideal supportive partner. ”
The former Speaker concluded his message with a call for unity, stating, “Let there be harmony, and let us proceed. The path ahead remains. ”
