STUDENT LOANS: NELFUND OPENS APPLICATION PORTAL FOR 2025/2026 SESSION
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has declared the formal commencement of its student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic year, offering essential financial assistance to students enrolled in tertiary institutions throughout the nation.
The organization indicated that the application period will be open from Thursday, October 23, 2025, through Saturday, January 31, 2026.
This information was detailed in a communiqué released on Tuesday by NELFUND’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi.
NELFUND encouraged new students to apply by utilizing their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number in lieu of a matriculation number.

It requested that tertiary institutions exhibit comprehension regarding registration and fee payment cut-offs for applicants awaiting loan distribution.
“Educational Institutions are urged to demonstrate flexibility in enforcing registration and fee payment deadlines for students awaiting loan distribution.
“Institutions that have yet to initiate their 2025/2026 academic session should formally communicate with NELFUND, providing their sanctioned academic calendar to facilitate scheduling flexibility.
“NELFUND calls upon all institutions to consider provisional registration protocols for students whose loan applications are under review to ensure that no student is deprived of educational opportunities due to financial impediments,” the communiqué emphasized.
