A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja on Monday ordered the remand of Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Eso, and two others, for alleged involvement in the murder of two persons in the Mushin area of Lagos.
Akinwande was arraigned alongside Qudus Egbere and Sola Edun Tomiwa on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, murder, and membership of an unlawful society before Justice Oyindamola Ogala.
The offences contravene Sections 223 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, and the Unlawful Societies and Cultism (Prohibition) Law of Lagos State, 2021.
According to the amended information dated November 10, 2025, and filed by the Lagos State Government, the defendants, alongside others now at large, allegedly conspired to kill two victims — Bolanle Yusuf and Yusuf Ramadan — on July 31, 2024, at Moshalashi Street, Mushin.
The prosecution counsel, A. O. Azeez, informed the court that the amended charge was filed earlier in the day, while the defendants were represented by counsels Olanrewaju Ajanaku and M. D. Obadeyi.
When the charges were read to the defendants, they pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the second defendant, however, made an oral application for his client to continue on administrative bail, but Justice Ogala declined the request, directing the lawyer to file a formal bail application instead.
One of the counts read:
“That Qudus Egbere, Wasiu Akinwande, and others now at large, on the 31st day of July, 2024, at about 1100 hours at Moshalashi Street, Mushin, in the Lagos State Judicial Division, conspired to commit felony to wit: murder of Bolanle Yusuf and Yusuf Ramadan using a machete and gun.”
Another count alleged that the defendants and others at large belonged to an unlawful society known as the Eiye Confraternity.
The state prosecutor requested a trial date, after which Justice Ogala adjourned the matter to January 19, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
