The Plateau State Government has refuted a social media report claiming that the state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has joined the Young Progressives Party (YPP).

In a communiqué released on Friday in Jos, the director of press and public affairs for the governor, Gyang Bere, characterized the allegation as “a gross falsehood” and the product of “desperate troublemakers” intent on misleading the public and generating unnecessary unrest in the state.

Bere stated that the rumor was a “poorly crafted fabrication” that typically would not require a response, but emphasized that an official clarification was essential to safeguard unsuspecting citizens from deception.

“For clarity, Governor Mutfwang has not joined the Young Progressives Party. Should there be any alteration in status, the Governor will utilize official and verified communication channels to inform the citizens of Plateau State and other concerned parties,” he stated.

Bere underscored that Governor Mutfwang remains wholly dedicated to his mandate, asserting that his emphasis is on executing people-centered projects and significant development initiatives throughout the state.

The government urged residents, supporters, and stakeholders to completely disregard the rumor and to remain vigilant against politically motivated misinformation.

“Under Governor Mutfwang’s purposeful and visionary leadership, Plateau State continues to be safe, stable, and progressively evolving into a brighter, stronger, and more resilient community,” the statement concluded.

Bere encouraged the public to maintain unity in the collective effort of advancing the Plateau project despite attempts to foster division through misinformation.
