The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has approved the promotion of 24,202 senior officers across the four paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior.
The Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Board, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the development on Monday in Abuja through the Board’s Secretary, Abdulmalik Jubril, describing the exercise as the second batch of senior personnel elevation in 2025.
The beneficiaries are drawn from the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
A breakdown of the promotions shows that 11,426 officers were elevated in the Correctional Service, 4,336 in the Immigration Service, 2,581 in the Fire Service, and 5,859 in the Civil Defence Corps.
“The promotion was based on various parameters, including national spread, good records, ratification, performance and vacancy availability,” Tunji-Ojo said.
He explained that the exercise was designed to boost morale and enhance service delivery across the agencies.
The minister noted that promotions had stagnated in previous years, but the current administration is prioritising personnel welfare as part of broader efforts to combat insecurity nationwide.
“In the recent past, promotion had been stagnant, but this administration is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of personnel to tackle the insecurity bedevilling the country,” he stated.
Last year, the Board promoted 20,867 senior officers across the paramilitary services, as part of ongoing reforms to address delays in career progression and improve staff motivation.
