The Facebook and Instagram accounts of renowned Nigerian musician and activist Eedris Abdulkareem have been suspended by Meta, the parent company of the platforms.

Sources indicate that the accounts were flagged and taken offline, restricting access, less than a week after Abdulkareem released his new single, “Open Letter to Donald Trump.”

In the track, Abdulkareem directly addresses the former U.S. President, Donald Trump, appealing for his urgent intervention in resolving ongoing crises, particularly the security challenges facing Nigeria.

Released under his label, Lakreem Entertainment, on TikTok on November 29, 2025, Eedris Abdulkareem’s new single is being described both as a direct message to the U.S. President and a pointed critique of Nigeria’s political elite.

In the song, Abdulkareem labels Nigerian leaders as “criminals of all shades and hues,” accusing them of enriching themselves while citizens grapple with widespread insecurity, including kidnappings, killings, and terrorism.

The rapper also references former U.S. President Donald Trump, singing “dem dey fear Donald Trump,” positioning the track as an attempt to draw international attention to Nigeria’s deepening crises.

This is not the first time Abdulkareem has used his music to challenge authorities. In April 2025, he released “Tell Your Papa,” in which he called out Seyi Tinubu, urging him to convey Nigerians’ hardships to his father, President Bola Tinubu. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) subsequently banned the song, citing violations of the country’s Broadcasting Code.

Abdulkareem’s history of politically charged music dates back to 2004, when then-President Olusegun Obasanjo banned his track “Jaga Jaga.” Despite the ban, the song became an underground anthem, cementing Abdulkareem’s reputation as an outspoken critic through music.
