The Executive Chairman of Ohafia Local Government Area, Eleanya Kalu, has visited Okon-Aku community in Abia State following the tragic killing of a youth, Igwe Akuma Akwu, and the destruction of property by fire.
During his visit, the local government chairman extended condolences to the family of the deceased and also visited residents whose homes were burnt, including traditional rulers Eze Ndukwe Iko, Eze Bernard Nkama, and several others.
Eleanya Kalu urged calm among the bereaved family and called for peaceful dialogue among all parties involved to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
He condemned the violent acts and property destruction that occurred last weekend in Okon-Aku, describing them as unacceptable and harmful to peace, unity, and development.
“To prevent further breakdown of law and order, security personnel have been deployed permanently to the area to restore peace and protect lives and property,” he stated.
He also expressed gratitude to the security agencies for their efforts in preventing the crisis from escalating further and directed that they remain in the community to maintain order.
