Severe traffic congestion was reported on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Saturday morning following a truck accident that left a section of the road blocked.

The incident occurred in the early hours near the Ogere Bridge, disrupting movement for motorists heading towards Ibadan, Saapade, Alapako, and neighbouring communities.

Eyewitnesses said the obstruction forced vehicles to divert into the opposite lane, triggering heavy gridlock on the Lagos-bound carriageway, affecting traffic towards Mowe, Ibafo, and surrounding areas.

As of reporting, traffic on both sides of the expressway had nearly come to a standstill, leaving many road users stranded for several hours.

Sources indicated that the truck fell late Friday night, with congestion worsening by Saturday morning as traffic volume increased.

Officials from the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps were deployed to manage traffic and restore smooth movement along the route.

Personnel at the scene, who declined to be named, attributed the incident to a mechanical fault and confirmed that efforts were ongoing to clear the obstruction and reopen at least one lane to ease the traffic gridlock.
