Ogoshi Onawo, the senator representing Nasarawa South, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), attributing his decision to personal reasons.

In a letter dated January 10, 2026, and addressed to the chairman of the PDP in Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area, Onawo stated that his resignation takes immediate effect.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area, with effect from today, 10th January, 2026. This decision has been taken after careful consideration and is purely for personal reasons,” he wrote.

Onawo expressed gratitude to the party leadership and members for the opportunities and support he received during his tenure.

“I sincerely thank the party leadership, members, and supporters for the platform afforded me over the years to serve my people in various capacities. I remain deeply grateful for the trust, cooperation, and encouragement I received throughout my time in the party,” he added.

The senator also wished the PDP continued growth and success.

While Onawo did not disclose his next political move, he has been linked to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after being seen at a party meeting in July 2025.
