Staff of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, have dismissed recent social media reports alleging mismanagement of university funds.
Speaking on campus on Tuesday, the workers described the claims as falsehoods propagated by individuals seeking to create tension and instability within the institution.
In a show of support led by Professor Michael Ekwe and Ogechi Umeh, MOUAU staff expressed confidence in the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, praising his administration for fostering peace and stability at the university.
They also commended the Vice Chancellor and his team for reviving lost academic programs and securing land for the university’s permanent site.
“The Vice Chancellor has worked tirelessly to ensure institutional peace and stability. It is baffling that those who do not understand the workings of a university would be sponsored to tarnish his name on social media,” Ekwe said.
Earlier, Professor Iwe highlighted that his administration successfully completed numerous projects despite limited resources. He expressed disappointment over attempts by opponents to damage his reputation online, including threats to involve anti-corruption agencies.
