COMMERCIAL BUS CATCHES FIRE ON THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE, HEAVY TRAFFIC ENSUES

A commercial bus caught fire on the Third Mainland Bridge near the UNILAG Waterfront, heading toward Iyana Oworo, causing severe traffic congestion on Monday, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has reported.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), LASTMA stated that fire service officials are on the scene, working to extinguish the blaze.
“The incident has led to significant traffic congestion, with the backlog now extending to Adekunle. Motorists are advised to exercise patience on approach,” the agency added.
As of the time of reporting, emergency responders were still engaged in efforts to control the fire and restore normal traffic flow. The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
