Nottingham Forest, struggling in the Premier League, appointed Vitor Pereira as their fourth manager of the season on Sunday.

The former Wolves coach has signed an 18-month contract following the dismissal of Sean Dyche earlier this week. Forest had also previously parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou during a turbulent campaign.

A club statement read: “Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm that Vitor Pereira has been appointed as head coach on an 18-month deal.” Pereira’s main task will be to steer the team clear of the Premier League relegation zone.

Dyche was sacked after Forest drew 0-0 with bottom-placed Wolves on Wednesday, having overseen just 114 days in charge following Postecoglou’s brief 39-day tenure in October.

Pereira, 57, had been out of work since leaving Wolves in November, where he struggled to replicate the success of saving the club from relegation in the 2024-25 season. He previously worked with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiacos in Greece.

His debut as Forest manager will be next week in the first leg of the Europa League play-off against Fenerbahce, though his primary focus remains Premier League survival. The club currently sits three points above the relegation zone with 12 games remaining.

Pereira built his reputation at Porto, winning back-to-back league titles, and has also managed Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia), Fenerbahce (Turkey), Shanghai SIPG (China), and Brazilian clubs Corinthians and Flamengo.
