The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has intercepted the majority of ballistic missiles and drones launched toward its territory, describing the assault as a serious escalation that threatens regional stability.

In a statement on Tuesday, the UAE Ministry of Defence said its air force and air defence units detected 137 ballistic missiles, successfully destroying 132, while five fell into the sea. Additionally, 209 drones were detected, with 195 intercepted. Fourteen drones landed within the country’s territory and waters, causing minor material damage.

“Debris from the intercepted missiles and drones fell in various locations, resulting in limited damage to some civilian facilities,” the Ministry stated. Authorities responded immediately to secure affected areas and ensure the safety of residents.

The UAE condemned the attacks as violations of national sovereignty and international law, emphasizing that they represent a significant escalation endangering civilian lives and undermining regional security. The government affirmed that it reserves the right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its territory, protect citizens and residents, and defend national interests, noting that the country remains on high alert.

Minister of State for International Cooperation, H.E. Reem Al Hashimy, said authorities are fully prepared to confront emerging threats, assuring the public that safety remains the government’s highest priority.

The attacks come amid the widening conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. The US-Israeli air campaign against Iran, launched on Saturday, resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and other senior leaders. Iran has since launched retaliatory drone and missile strikes on countries hosting American military assets.

Earlier, Iran struck the United States Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, triggering a small fire and minor damage. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence confirmed that two drones hit the embassy compound in the early hours of Tuesday, although the building was empty and no casualties were reported. Air defence systems intercepted four other drones targeting the diplomatic quarter.

The UAE Ministry of Defence urged residents to rely only on official sources for information and avoid spreading unverified reports as tensions in the Gulf continue to escalate.
