INEC APPROVES PROMOTION OF 2,339 STAFF IN 2025 SENIOR STAFF EXERCISE

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the promotion of 2,339 staff members in its 2025 Senior Staff Promotion Exercise, highlighting the Commission’s commitment to career development, institutional continuity, and organisational stability.
The decision was taken during a meeting on Thursday, February 26, 2026, and announced in a statement on Tuesday by Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi in Abuja.
At the directorate level, covering Grade Levels (GL) 16–17, 45 Deputy Directors were elevated to the rank of Directors. Of these, 18 will continue in active service, while 27 are set to retire shortly after promotion, in line with public service regulations.
At GL 15–16, 91 Assistant Directors were promoted to Deputy Directors, while 82 Chief Officers on GL 14–15 advanced to Assistant Directors. The exercise also included 2,121 intermediate officers on GL 07–13 across various departments.
The statement noted that the promotions were conducted in accordance with established guidelines and extant public service rules. It emphasized that the exercise reflects INEC’s determination to reward merit, dedication, and years of service, while sustaining leadership depth, especially as preparations continue for upcoming electoral activities.
The Commission congratulated all promoted officers and urged them to redouble their commitment to professionalism, integrity, and impartiality in executing their duties.
