Many Nigerians have continued to criticise Nollywood stars Kunle Afolayan, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Ayo Adesanya and Remi Surutu, among others, following the launch of a new support group backing the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu.

The backlash comes amid increasing economic hardship across the country.

The group, Eko 57 Movement, was officially launched in Lagos on Sunday and is being coordinated by actor Lege Miami.

Reacting to a video of the event, which is trending online, many Nigerians criticised the celebrities for not being honest with the situation of things across Nigeria.

Netizens warned that no celebrities should come out again to solicit financial assistance when they get ill.

While noting that mandatory real-time transmission of results is the only movement Nigeria is in need of, netizens listed poor health system, insecurity, poor electricity supply, corruption and high cost of living among other hardships faced by Nigerians under President Tinubu’s led government.

Here is a clean, professionally rephrased version while preserving the meaning of the comments:

Umaromolara warned that those involved should not come to social media to complain if things turn against them, adding that their actions have been noted.

Horlayinka_gold criticised the actors, saying they appeared unconcerned about issues such as poor governance, killings across the country and the struggling economy. The user added that anyone listening to the initiative might think it was being done for the wellbeing of Nigerians.

Thorlulorpe stated that while everyone has the right to support any political figure of their choice, those backing the group should avoid complaining publicly if the situation in the country eventually affects them.

Der0ju questioned the government’s performance, asking about the electricity supply that had been promised before people were asked to support the Eko 57 movement.

At.michael1 argued that only mediocrity would support what the user described as a failed government.

Topesampson also criticised the initiative, claiming the administration’s mandate had resulted in national grid collapses, widespread darkness, hunger and insecurity.

Broad_content mocked the movement and its coordinator, suggesting that it ignored the economic hardship many Nigerians are currently facing and alleging that the initiative appeared to serve personal interests rather than the public good.
