Mohammed appeared before Justice Olubukola Okunuga on a 12-count charge. The prosecution, led by Mrs. Roseline Eze, said the case originated from a petition by the Federal Civil Service and the Legal Aid Council, accusing him of defrauding at least 41 individuals of approximately ₦13 million.

According to the prosecution, Mohammed collected money from victims under the pretense of securing civil service jobs, issuing forged employment letters that were later found to be invalid. The court was also informed that the defendant had missed previous hearings despite arrest warrants, and that delays were further compounded by the absence of defence counsel.

Upon arraignment, Mohammed pleaded not guilty to all charges. Justice Okunuga adjourned the case to April 15, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
