CFRA URGES PEACE, UNITY AS CHRISTIANS CELEBRATE EASTER

The Christian Faith Reporters Association (CFRA) has urged Nigerians to recommit to peace, justice, and national unity as Christians across the country and the world mark Easter.
In an Easter message signed by its President, Adeola Ogunlade, the group said the season—symbolising sacrifice, hope, redemption, and victory over death—should inspire citizens to embrace love, fairness, and courage despite ongoing security challenges.
However, the association noted that this year’s celebration is clouded by sorrow following the recent killing of innocent civilians in Jos on Palm Sunday, lamenting that a period meant for reflection and peace was overshadowed by violence.
“The sanctity of human life must be upheld, as no society can flourish where bloodshed becomes commonplace,” the statement said, calling on leaders to demonstrate the true meaning of Easter through decisive actions that safeguard lives and uphold justice.
CFRA expressed sympathy with families of the victims and demanded justice, stressing that their suffering must not be overlooked.
While acknowledging government efforts to address insecurity, the group insisted that more sustained and proactive measures are required to protect vulnerable communities. It also urged security agencies to ensure that those responsible for such attacks are promptly arrested and prosecuted.
The association encouraged Nigerians to use the Easter period to promote unity, peace, and mutual respect across religious and ethnic lines, while rejecting all forms of violence.
It concluded with a message of hope, expressing confidence that Nigeria can overcome its challenges through collective effort and purposeful leadership.
