A fresh exchange has emerged between supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and allies of President Bola Tinubu after Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo claimed Tinubu holds a political advantage ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a post on his verified X account on Sunday, Keyamo praised Tinubu’s long history in opposition politics, arguing that “you cannot beat a master at his game.”

Responding on Monday, Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, rejected the claim, saying political experience does not replace measurable governance outcomes.

Shaibu argued that Nigerians are more concerned about current living conditions than past electoral victories, shifting the focus to issues such as rising hunger, insecurity, and the high cost of living.

Atiku’s aide has doubled down in a follow-up post, intensifying his criticism of the administration’s performance.

He argued that history may recall political battles, but leadership will ultimately be judged by results, insisting that no amount of “myth-making” can conceal poor governance.

He also said claims of being “100 steps ahead” politically are meaningless if citizens continue to suffer from hunger, insecurity, and worsening living standards.

According to him, governance is not about strategy or political manoeuvring, but about delivering compassion, competence, and courage in office.

He further stated that Nigerians are more affected by economic hardship and insecurity than political rhetoric, adding that no propaganda can hide the realities people are currently facing.
