GOVERNOR ABDULRAZAQ BACKS PREFERRED APC GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANT

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has endorsed Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was contained in a statement personally signed by the governor on Tuesday.
According to AbdulRazaq, the decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He described Yahaya Seriki as young, people-oriented, politically experienced, and widely accepted across Kwara State, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the state effectively.
The governor, however, clarified that the endorsement does not stop other aspirants from participating in the party primaries scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, while urging party members to support Seriki in the interest of unity and continuity.
AbdulRazaq also stressed that his choice should not be seen as a rejection of other aspirants, whom he praised for their discipline and contributions to the party.
Yahaya Seriki, who hails from Kwara Central, is expected to contest the APC governorship ticket alongside 15 other aspirants.
