Senators reconsidering law they thought would turn women into lesbians, prostitutes
The Gender and Equal Opportunity Bill, which seeks to ensure equal inheritances for male and female children, has passed the second reading at the Senate.
The Bill also seeks to end the harassment of widows and ensure equal employment opportunities for women.

āThe bill was defeated at the second reading when its details were highlighted to the senators,ā Senator Eyinnaya Abaribesaid at the time.
āSome lawmakers started expressing deep worries about some parts of the bill that they think could give women too much freedom and lead them to prostitution, lesbianism and other social vices,ā he added.
