ANTHONY JOSHUA SET FOR FIRST FIGHT AFTER CAR CRASH

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua is set to return to the ring on July 25 for a tune-up bout ahead of a highly anticipated clash with Tyson Fury.
Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh announced on Monday that the Watford-born fighter will face little-known Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of an Esports World Cup event, which will be broadcast live on DAZN.
The fight will be Joshua’s first since his knockout win over Jake Paul in December.
Following that victory, the British-Nigerian boxer was involved in a tragic road accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close friends and left him with minor injuries.
He has since resumed training and signed a two-fight agreement with Riyadh Season, which includes a long-awaited showdown with Fury later in the year.
“To my friends in Great Britain – it’s happening. It’s signed,” Alalshikh wrote on social media.
Joshua added: “It’s no secret I’ve taken time to consolidate and rebuild in preparation for returning to the ring, and today marks the next step in that journey.
“I’m pleased to have agreed a multi-fight deal starting with July 25th in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
I’m excited to get back to competition and continue from where I paused. As I mentioned before, the landlord will definitely collect his rent—that much is guaranteed.
