PEDESTRIAN DIES AFTER BEING HIT BY A VEHICLE WHILE CROSSING A ROAD IN OGUN STATE

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has confirmed the death of an unidentified pedestrian in a road accident along the Imowo–Ibadan road inward Ijebu Ode in Ogun State.
According to reports, the victim was struck by a Toyota Coaster bus on Sunday while attempting to cross the road.
In a statement issued by TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi, the incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. and caused heavy traffic congestion due to the obstruction created by the vehicle.
Akinbiyi said the pedestrian reportedly failed to check for oncoming traffic before crossing the road.
He added that TRACE officials, alongside police officers from the Obalende Division, were quickly deployed to the scene to restore order and carry out rescue operations. The victim was evacuated and confirmed dead before being taken to the OGSAS ambulance and later deposited at the General Hospital mortuary in Ijebu Ode.
He further noted that normal traffic flow had been restored, while the vehicle involved has been moved to the Police Area Command in Igbeba for further investigation.
