SUPREME COURT AFFIRMS OSUN GOV-ELECT, ADELEKE AS AUTHENTIC PDP CANDIDATE
The Supreme Court, on Thursday, affirmed the Governor-elect of Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke as the authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the July 16 gubernatorial election in the state.
Prince Dotun Babayemi filed an appeal against Adeleke after winning the PDP governorship candidacy in a parallel primary election that was held in the state. The supreme court dismissed the appeal in a unanimous decision by a five-man panel.
Adebayo Adelodun, SAN, the appellant’s lawyer, dropped the appeal after the panel, presided over by Justice Amina Augie, pointed out that the case was time-barred.
The panel had maintained that the appeal was incompetent, stressing that it was filed outside the 14 days period provided by the law.
