The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a six-hour power outage in parts of Abuja on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, due to scheduled maintenance work.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Federal Government-owned company said the outage would be caused by its annual maintenance exercise at the 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation.

TCN said the maintenance is scheduled to run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to provide electricity to customers in Dawaki, Gwarinpa, Dutse Alhaji and neighbouring areas throughout the maintenance period.

Other locations expected to experience the outage include parts of Kubwa, Arab Road, Bwari, Mopol Barracks, Jiwa and its environs, as well as Suleja Township, the Federal Capital Territory College of Education, Field Base, Madalla, Zuba and surrounding communities.

TCN urged affected residents to bear with the temporary interruption, noting that the maintenance exercise was necessary to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the transmission network.

The company said power supply would be restored to the affected areas after the completion of the maintenance work.
