Anambra State First Lady, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has urged Nigerians to embrace healthier lifestyles, stressing that maintaining a healthy brain is key to achieving overall wellbeing.
Soludo, founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday to commemorate the 2026 World Brain Day.
She encouraged people to adopt healthy habits such as eating nutritious meals, engaging in regular physical exercise, getting adequate sleep, pursuing lifelong learning and prioritising mental wellness to protect brain health.
According to her, paying closer attention to mental wellbeing and managing cardiovascular risks can significantly reduce the likelihood of developing neurological disorders“As we commemorate World Brain Day today, it’s crucial to remember that a healthy brain is the foundation of a sound and healthy life.
“By embracing good nutrition, regular physical activity, quality sleep, lifelong learning and mental wellness, we can protect one of God’s greatest gifts.
“Let’s nurture our minds, support one another and build a healthier, more productive society,” she said.
The First Lady further urged Nigerians to make brain health a priority, noting that both individual and collective efforts toward healthy living would help create a more productive and resilient society.
World Brain Day, observed annually on July 22, was established by the World Federation of Neurology to raise awareness about neurological disorders and promote access to quality brain healthcare.
The theme for the 2026 campaign emphasises making brain healthcare accessible to everyone, regardless of social or economic status, while encouraging early detection, timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment to help preserve independence and improve the quality of life for people living with neurological conditions.
