ANAMBRA POLICE ARREST FOUR OVER ALLEGED PLOT TO KILL BUSINESSMAN, TAKE OVER LAND

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspects over an alleged plot to assassinate a businessman and unlawfully seize his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, identified as Obiora Nwankwo, 38; Chiadikobi Okoye, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, 37, were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu and Amichi on Wednesday.
The command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed the development in a statement on Thursday, saying the arrests followed intelligence gathered under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama.
Ikenga said operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, working with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi and Nnewi, moved in after receiving credible information about the alleged plot.
He said the operation led to the arrest of the four suspects and the recovery of two firearms and live ammunition.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly involved in a plan to kill the businessman and subsequently take possession of his landed properties.
The statement read, “The Anambra State Police Command has uncovered an alleged plot to murder a businessman and unlawfully take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, following the strategic intelligence emplacement of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama.”
Ikenga said the command had commenced a detailed investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy, identify other individuals who may be connected to the plot and determine the roles allegedly played by each suspect.
The four suspects remain in police custody and are expected to face prosecution after the conclusion of investigations.
The police spokesperson said the Commissioner of Police described the arrest as a demonstration of the command’s renewed intelligence-led policing strategy aimed at identifying criminal threats early, disrupting planned attacks and preventing the loss of lives and property.
