APC THREATENS NIGERIA’S UNITY, DEVELOPMENT — EL-RUFAI

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has urged for unified efforts to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
During a visit to Sokoto State on Saturday as part of his grassroots mobilisation drive, El-Rufai warned that giving the APC another term would endanger the nation’s future. He labelled the ruling party “incompetent and clannish,” cautioning that its continued rule posed a threat to Nigeria’s unity and progress.
At a series of meetings with political stakeholders, youth organisations, and women groups from all 23 local government areas, El-Rufai stressed the need for urgent action to save the country from what he called “poor governance and failed leadership.”
“I didn’t get into politics to enrich myself but to serve. And when a government ceases to serve the people, it is my duty as a senior citizen to not only speak out but take action to reverse the situation,” he stated.
He explained that the opposition coalition’s choice of the African Democratic Congress as its platform for the 2027 elections was a strategic effort to unite Nigerians behind a credible alternative that puts national interest above personal ambition.
“If we allow this APC government another term, what remains of Nigeria’s social fabric may be destroyed. This is the fight of our lives,” El-Rufai warned.
He added that the coalition would persist in mobilising Nigerians nationwide to resist and vote out the APC.
Also speaking at one of the gatherings, Sokoto opposition leader Abubakar Gada reaffirmed the coalition’s commitment to offering credible and capable leadership at both state and national levels.
